Questions, answered

Focus

About the app

No. Focus runs in the background once installed and configured. There are no manual timers to start or stop — it watches your foreground window automatically.

Every app and website has a classification rule — productive, distracted, or neutral — that you can view and edit in Settings. You can also override specific time blocks, like marking one part of a YouTube session differently from the rest.

No. Focus checks whether audio is actually playing before applying its idle timeout, so a silently-watched video won't get flagged as time away from your desk.

Locally, in a SQLite database on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Focus targets Windows 10 and 11. macOS and Linux are not currently planned.

Focus USB Hub

About the hardware

Not yet — it's currently a concept and early prototype. See the USB Hub project page for the current plan.

The exact behavior is still being designed — likely a reduced charge rate or a full pause on selected ports, based on rules you configure in Focus. This will be documented in full once finalized.

Yes — a manual override is a planned feature, so the hub never leaves you stuck without power when you genuinely need it.
